InstallAware First and Only Installation Toolkit to Support SQL Server Express 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 Installation

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 8, 2008

InstallAware Software Corporation has shipped a free update for InstallAware, allowing ISVs and enterprises to deploy the latest technologies included in Microsoft's new Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 programming environment. Service Pack 1 for Visual Studio 2008 was released only two weeks ago, and InstallAware is the only commercial installation toolkit at this time that allows the installation of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 with Service Pack 1, as well as SQL Server Express 2008, which are the two major enhancements offered in Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1. InstallAware pioneers this support ahead of all other competitors, including InstallShield.

"Once again InstallAware has responded to new technologies faster than any other installation vendor, as was the case with.NET 2.0, .NET 3.0, .NET 3.5, SQL Server 2005, Windows Installer 4.5, and the list goes on even further," says Roy Nevens, CEO of InstallAware Software Corporation. "We have established ourselves as the market leader in providing these vital updates free and before any other vendor. I must add it takes companies such as InstallShield three months or longer to get these updates ready, while charging for them most of the time too."

With this free update, InstallAware now provides one-click deployment for SQL Server Express 2008, an inherently difficult component to deploy. A single check-box is all it takes to deploy this runtime with InstallAware, thanks to InstallAware's intelligent runtime installation technology which automatically detects all hardware and software requirements, and automatically installs all necessary technology pre-requisites. Because InstallAware has a built-in database of dependencies, developers will never have to guess which runtimes are required by their application. InstallAware will also compress all included runtimes up to 67% better, utilizing its LZMA/BCJ2 compression algorithm -- when those runtimes are packaged with InstallAware.

It's very easy to instruct setup to check for a particular instance of SQL Server on the target system. Only if the named instance is not found, will SQL Server be actually installed. Not only can InstallAware setups make smart branching decisions like these at runtime, but they can also download missing components like SQL Server on-the-fly. This is while shipping a stand-alone setup file that works without requiring an Internet connection to install even the core application files themselves -- another unique InstallAware technology called Partial Web Deployment.

InstallAware also allows modular installation of .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 subcomponents, namely .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 and .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2. This permits developers greater flexibility in applying these service pack levels to their end-user's systems, helping them selectively distribute just the technologies they need.

Of course, adding the runtimes to existing setup projects is easy. A single check-mark on any of the runtimes in the Application Runtimes designer of the InstallAware IDE adds it to the developer's existing setup project, without requiring any further work.

InstallAware is available in multiple editions with prices starting at US$ 399. A time limited fully-functional trial download is available at http://www.installaware.com.

MonitorGrid, a Cloud Based Server Monitoring Solution, Gives Admins Two-Way Communication with Their Microsoft Servers

Hollywood, FL (Vocus) May 17, 2010

Linxter, Inc., provider of the Linxter cloud messaging platform, today announces the release of MonitorGrid (http://monitorgrid.com), a service for keeping tabs on the performance, storage, and network activity of Microsoft servers, regardless of their network or domain. Running on Azure and wired with Linxter, MonitorGrid users enjoy secure and reliable two-way communication between their Microsoft servers and the MonitorGrid interface.

The ability to not only receive performance data from your servers, but send commands to them is what sets MonitorGrid apart from other server monitoring systems. In addition to providing historical trending, MonitorGrid allows for remote restarts (both on-demand and scheduled), multiple users, and the ability to transfer files from one to many servers.

MonitorGrid not only helps system administrators react to unexpected problems, but take proactive measures to keep servers in good health. Whenever a server falls below performance thresholds, alerts are sent immediately. In addition, historical trending reports allow administrators to diagnose whether they need more CPUs, memory, hard drives, or load balancing to keep their servers running smoothly.

Getting started is as simple as creating a MonitorGrid account and downloading and running the MSI, which installs a low impact server service. Every 60 seconds, the service uses Linxter?s cloud messaging technology to send the server performance data to a cloud app running on Windows Azure. The cloud app then displays the performance data in convenient graphs and reports.

?MonitorGrid is brilliantly simple to use, and provides me with a great feature set,? said Esteban Garcia, Partner at M2E Solutions. ?Because it is cloud based, I didn't need to acquire any additional hardware, and I also don't need to provide resources for, or worry about the system administration of it. We were up and running in minutes, with no training required.?

?The combination of an easy-to-install service, an easy-to-use web app, extremely competitive pricing, and two free servers for every account makes MonitorGrid an ideal solution for watching the health of your servers,? said Jason Milgram, Linxter CEO. ?Currently, MonitorGrid supports Windows servers, and Linux support will be added in the coming months.?
